CHROMAKOOOOOOOPIAAA!

Tyler Brings his 8th studio album to fans on a Monday!?

Tyler the creator began promoting the album when he dropped a mysterious video featuring what is now the song “St. Chroma” on his Instagram announcing the album’s title CHROMAKOPIA. This instantly sparked conversations among fans on what Tyler would plan on releasing. Just a few days later he surprise drops the lead single and video to the song “NOID” featuring classic Tyler easter eggs and a great view into the world that CHROMAKOPIA was soon to be. A week later, the album was released.

There are so many bangers on this new Tyler project. We have classic catchy hooks by Tyler in songs like “Darling, I” and “Judge Judy”. “Sticky” being a fans favorite for its funny engaging lyrics and small performances from GloRilla, Sexyy Red & Lil Wayne that are used so well.

“Thought I Was Dead” features ScHoolboy Q where he and Tyler give some of the best verses performed on this album. In songs like “Hey Jane” “Take Your Mask Off” and “Like Him” we get deep and personal to Tyler’s past, highlighting the reason why he made this project. He concludes with one of the best songs I believe he has ever created which is “I Hope You Find Your Way Home”. Everything about that song is great, the background vocals, the instruments, and the lyricism all help capture Tyler’s talent and solidify him as a worthy artist who can bring whatever vision comes his way to life.

October 28 was a very special day. Students were finding ways to fit in a time to listen to the album as school was still occurring. I was fortunately able to be part of a listening party. We gathered around a speaker and played the album from start to finish. I mention this because it is things like this that bring unity within music, something I believe Tyler was aiming to achieve.
