Something for Thee Hotties - Megan Thee Stallion (2021)
In her sixth studio album, Houston-based rapper Megan Thee Stallion returns to her roots in a way that reminds us all just how talented and clever she really is.
Megan originally gained her dedicated fanbase from her numerous freestyles, and Hotties serves as a love letter to those who have been with her from the start. The album includes five freestyles in total, all of which center around Megan’s main message of sex positivity and making money, whether she is supporting herself or being doted on by one of her many adoring suitors. However, there are a couple tracks that somewhat deviate from this narrative. One particular standout is her “Southside Forever Freestyle”, in which she pays tribute to both her late mother and grandmother. Holly Thomas, also known by her stage name Holly-Wood, had a large part in gifting Megan with her passion for rap, even taking an infant Megan with her to studio sessions. Other highlights include “Eat It” and “Tuned In Freestyle”, both spirited and aggressive anthems to further prove that Megan’s career has no end in sight. Overall, Hotties keeps its lively energy throughout all 21 tracks, confirming that Megan could very well be rap’s next legend.
