Living Mirage is The Head and the Heart’s fourth album and brings forward a different yet similar vibe to all of their past work. Throughout their career they have gone through difficult times losing band members yet still proceeded to continue growing and pushing forward in the music industry. Their newest album brings in the pop culture that is taking over the industry while still keeping track of the original sound they began this adventure with, drawing the listeners even more into the music. The album is their poppiest yet but still includes the folky organic feeling and rooted in the deep and fulfilling melodies. The band touches on mental health and the need for love and overwhelming kindness for yourself and others. The song “See you Through My Eyes” talks of an individual who needs to love themselves to love their significant other fully and devout. The need for self love so that you can then proceed to pour that out on the people that surround you.

The album uses the same sounds as the 80’s hits that used to be loved and blasted all over, with fun and upbeat instrumentals and lyrics that actually mean something and provoke you. The song “Honey Bee” talks about the love and devotion the singer has for his lover and how he needs her just as the world needs honey bees. Maybe this is not the actual connection being made but it can be drawn, and the dire necessity is there for both of the situations making the metaphor even stronger. Another message that is portrayed by the band in this album is the idea that everyone needs to go through maturity and continue building themselves and growing non-stop, the song “Everyone Needs a Melody” helps listeners to see the necessity of experience in one’s own life. Through Living Mirage the band is telling us to live and love to the fullest while on this planet and to take care of it so that others can do the same for many years to come.
