Interview with Wild Rivers: 09/11/21
by Doris Huguley and Greta Kreimeyer
On September 11 of this year, KRCX staff members Doris and Greta sat down with Toronto-based Wild Rivers to discuss their sound as well as life and music, both during and after(?) COVID-19. Additional photos from the concert can be viewed in the photo album.
How did you discover your passion for music?
Music has always been a significant part of our lives. We all grew up in musical households, which made picking up instruments feel natural to us.
Who or what inspires your sound?
Wild Rivers music is a compilation of each member’s personal and multimedia experiences and tastes, which include people like Paul Simon and James Taylor.
How has it been touring and recording during COVID-19?
We were in the process of starting a new album when the pandemic hit, and we were forced to stop production and head back to our roots in Canada. On the touring side of things, we really missed the gratification and overall experience of performing live and seeing our hard work and passion in action. We found the separation we faced to be very difficult because it wasn’t as fun to make music without experiencing the process together. It felt like it took a lifetime, but we were eventually able to get together again to finish the album, which will be released in February 2022.
What is your favorite part about touring?
The best part of touring is getting to interact with our fans and seeing all of their passion for music reflected in the crowd.
Anything else you want your fans to know?
New album coming out in February 2022! We are super stoked about it. The whole Wild Rivers team has been implementing more eco-friendly changes into our tour, and partnering with environmentally aware organizations to make our tour more green. For every presave of our new album, on any music platform, 2 trees will be planted. We also partnered with Reverb, who works to minimize negative climate activity related to touring, and are selling reusable water bottles at our shows. 100% of the proceeds go to Reverb’s cause.
