Expect a different sound in this follow up double album, as Anthony Gonzalez, the man behind M83, spent the majority of his time recording in LA.

Jamie xx- Essential Mix

by: SUSANB

Jamie xx of The XX has been throwin down some real funky beats. He recently performed for Pete Tong on BBC's Radio 1. He joined names like Daft Punk as he performed a 2 hour essential mix. As he infuses electro-house, uk pop, hip hop and clasics, its hard not to jump up and start dancing or at least move.

Arcade Fire at 1st Bank Center- Apr. 9th

This past saturday, April 9th, Arcade Fire played a show to showcase their newest album, The Suburbs. Funny thing about the show; though the album attempted to show the flaws and misguidings surrounding the bourgeois suburbs which have taken over much of the greater cities around the world in the past decades, Arcade Fire played THE 1ST BANK CENTER IN THE SUBURBS OF NORTHERN DENVER.

Nevertheless, the concert remained dazzling throughout the set. With Local Natives, a 5-piece band from Los Angeles, kicking off the show with high energy and power, the rest of the concert was sure to go smoothly. After Local Natives got the crowd of, it must've been 1000+, riled up, Arcade Fire approached the stage with a loud shrill of cheers, reminescent of teeny-bopper girls circa Beatles Mania era. The band proceeded to start the show with their acclaimed "Ready to Start," which consequently started the show off quite well. The band proceeded, exchanging positions and instruments, throughout the set with the crowd bobbing in a constant and uniform motion; moving wildly with the music. Arcade Fire closed with their now nationally acclaimed track, featured on the film Where the Wild Things Are, Wake Up. The crowd remained energetic throughout the track and into the, now necessary, encore chant. The members walked back onto the stage, thankful to the many suburban, modern kids, and proceeded to play "Month of May" before finally closing with their animated song "Rebellion (Lies)."

Overall, the concert was quite ironic for the fact that the show was in one of the most suburban areas of Denver. But nonetheless, Arcade Fire along with Local Natives adequetely pleased the crowd, whether that be die-hard, year-long fans or newly
