Deer Tick - Divine Providence

Deer Tick's latest album is certainly a departure from their norm.  The usual, dreary folk-rock is a little harder to grasp beneath the much more upbeat sounds.  We're presented with less traditional Americana ballads and more raucous and rockin jams.  The production of the album is additionally a little more wild and natural, as opposed to their highly polished previous records.

PLASTIC CHILDREN

The album spotlight for this week is Plastic Children -- "The Synthetic Sunset Breeds a Schizophrenic Moon (Sarcastically Weeping Within a Chica Cocoon)" EP.



 

Plastic Children is a local duo from Denver, Colorado consisting of Tamara Rodriguez (Vocals) and Matt Lane (Music) that blends an eclectic mix of sounds and genres to create their own unique and chic style of music. The two musicians emerged from several genres, from Punk Rock to Rhythm and Blues. Each one of their songs can inspire emotions from bliss to paranoia. Check 'em out!

NEWVILLAGER - NewVillager

Self-proclaimed "musical omnivores," Brooklyn natives Ross Simonini and Ben Bromley have combined a variety of styles to create a unique and infectious sound. Thier self-titled debut album is as much a visual experience as audio; with thier own intriguing "NewVillagerMythology" woven into each song, and three of the expected ten corresponding videos already out to complete the experience. TV on the Radio - 'Nine Types of Light'

TV on the Radio's latest work 'Nine Types of Light' is a fantastic follow up to their 2008 album 'Dear Science'.  The album seems to not have as much energy as previous albums with slower songs like : "Killer Crane" and "Will Do".  But still produced rocking blues songs with: "Repetition" and "New Cannonball Blues".  The album gets you hooked right from the start and doesn't let you go until the last track is over.  Below is the music video for the single "Will Do":

IS A BEAST

Cameron McGill and What Army's newest fifth full-length studio release "Is a Beast" will be released for the general public this April 12th, 2011. KRCX has a brief past with Cameron McGill and What Army: a few years back they came into the studio to record some basement session tracks. We'd like to show our appreciation to them by giving them this week's album spotlight. Hope all you KRCXers enjoy!
