Lana Del Rey, also known as Elizabeth "Lizzy" Grant, first fully submerged into the spotlight with the release of her hit single "Video Games". Many call this American singer/songwriter a modern Nancy Sinatra because of her classic beauty and style of music. With her serene vocals and massive vocal range, this songstress has haunted audiences everywhere with her chilling sound. The album, released January 4th 2012, has already had rave reviews, and three of her songs (including "Video Games", "Blue Jeans", and "Born to Die") had caught critical praise even before the album was released. Althoughshe will not be visiting Denver on her current tour, you are able to watch her live performances online and on t.v. Lana recently performed two of her hit singles, "Video Games" and "Blue Jeans" on Saturday Night Live. Both her performances are available to the public online through NBC.com or on hulu.com. You can also check out Lana's new video of her single "Born to Die" on You Tube!
The Black Keys latest album: El Camino is a great follow up album to their break through album Brothers. It has the same powerful upbeat sound as Brothers with tracks like 'lonely boys' and 'stop stop'. But also has a soulful blues sound in the track: 'little black submarinie'. This rocking band will be playing shows in Denver with the Arctic Monkeys on April 30 and May 1 at the First Bank Center.

This week's Album Spotlight is an eccentric, up-beat indie-ish album from Amsterdam, Netherlands. Alamo Race Track dissappeared in 2006 but now they've re-emerged with Unicorn Loves Deer! Be sure to check them out below, on air with KRCX, ect. Their dynamic sound is sure to carry you through the entire album.
This week's album spotlight comes from our very own city. Gauntlet Hair crashed onto the Denver music scene with various EP's and singles, and now they've presented to us their first full-length out October 18th on Dead Oceans. The album is heavy on echoing and reverb and is a truly brilliant noise-pop gem. Did we mention they're local?!
Check out a couple tracks below and listen for the album spotlight live!
